With graduated banding on the centre of the levers and punched wrigglework decoration near the fulcrum, many variations of this nutcracker were produced. The right-hand one is very plain and undecorated and they all have punched nut grips in the jaws. They are sometimes described as lady's nutcrackers. They were also made in iron and bellmetal and brass ones are often marked 'TB' for Thomas Bingham who was listed as 'plater and brass nutcrack maker' in Birmingham, England in 1770 & 1790.
